About Stacy Deshon
Stacy’s passion for estate planning and elder law started in 2015 when she participated in the Estate Planning Clinic at Cooley Law School. She fell in love with the work and helping seniors navigate through the process of protecting themselves and their families. This led Stacy to open her own Estate Planning, Asset Protection, Medicaid, and Probate firm in 2017. She has joined forces with team Rutkowski to expand on our ability to work with seniors throughout southeast Michigan.
Making clients feel comfortable and safe is how Stacy goes the extra mile to help. Previously, she spent years in customer service and learned how to read between the lines to know exactly what a client needs and how to create the best experience for them. She loves forming relationships with her clients, hearing about family dynamics, and learning about the lives they have built together.
Stacy earned her undergraduate degree from the New York Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. She went on to attend Western Michigan’s Cooley M. Law School where she received her Juris Doctorate and graduated Cum Laude. During her time there she was the President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, taught as an assistant for the Research and Writing department and was awarded an academic scholarship and received the Certificate of Merit in Maritime Law. She went on to complete the ICLE Estate Planning Certification Program.
Stacy belongs to several professional organizations including Women’s Life, AAUW, the National Association of Career Women, and Eastern Michigan Christian Association (EMCF). She works as an advisor to EMCF to coordinate with donors for legacy giving.
Stacy was born and raised in Marysville, MI and left for the big city (NYC) at 18. She returned to her hometown sixteen years later to be close to her family. She is a mother of three and a lover of animals. She has a dog, a cat, guinea pigs, chickens, and a barn full of rabbits!
In her free time, Stacy enjoys taking weekend trips in her RV to explore Michigan. She spent last summer traveling with her family to amusement parks and concerts throughout the Midwest. She plans to expand her travels to include Amsterdam, Paris, London, Ireland, and Scotland in the near future. She is involved in the 4-H Youth Program with her daughter where they show their many animals.
Trust is very important to Stacy. Her goal is to connect with her client families personally so she can help in every way she can. Estate Planning and Elder Law can be a tedious process and Stacy strives to be a solid resource for her clients throughout their planning process.
